It’s kind of irresistible, even when we know the odds are against it. The New Year’s Resolution. The most common ones (that we’ve all made): Lose weight. Eat better. Exercise more.
I agree that the start of a year is a nice time to reflect, but let me suggest a little shift from “resolution” to “intention.” To me that feels more open, less rigid.
Here are some ideas to get you started:
I intend to be kinder to myself and others in my thoughts. When a negative thought pops up (which it will), I’ll calmly replace it with a positive one.
I intend to listen better, empathize more, before I interrupt with my opinion, my story.
I intend to send nutritious food into my body, so I can feel more energy, feel strong, lean, and prevent disease.
I intend to move in ways that are fun and feel good.
